5th Graders Help Bag Food For Last Time

Today the 5th graders went to Harvey House with Mrs. Melvin and helped put canned food into bags for those who come on Monday nights for assistance. The students' enthusiasm was evident from the start as they put their heart and soul into the task while putting food into the bags. They got themselves organized: one group pulled items from the shelf, while another organized it on the table, and yet a third group of students helped put it into bags. Director Jackie Rivera reminded students that her goal is to always provide a balanced meal by giving each recipient some vegetables, fruit, and starch in each bag. The students were careful to follow her guidelines as they packaged up the food items. This is the last scheduled night to pass out food because of the construction that will be starting at Harvey House. The 5th graders will not go back for awhile, but have shared that some valuable lessons in service have been learned.

On Monday, Febuary 25, 2008, 5B went ot Restoration ministries. When we arrived, Jackie told us that we would be canning foods into bags. The food were goods like vegtables, fruit, soups, and beans. We had green beans, corn, spaghetti and meatballs, vegatables or chicken noodle soup, and some fruit cocktails. After we were done one of the Mom's car wouldn't run. So we rode oin a huge van back to school. FR

My last trip to Restration Ministries was awesome. We went to the food pantry to fill sixty bags of food for the people who can not go to the store, because they do not have anky money. I also would like to thank Antie Jackie for letting us serve others at Restoration Ministries.

When we started to pack food we made up a system. The boys got all of the cans. Four girls got food together, and the rest of the girls put them in bags. Our goal was 60 bags and we only had 1 hour to do it. My last trip to Restoration Ministries was very exciting and fun! SSM

This was our last visit and we used team work to pack the bags. I enjoyed myself, using my hands to help other people gives me a good feeling. Now I really want to go out and help others more. I am glad I helped at Restoration Ministries. MKR

This was our last visit to Restoration Ministries and this some of the things we did. We packed about 60 plastic bags full of can foods. We put fruits, vegetables, soup, beans, and other things in the bags. This was going to be their last food pantery because they were going to tear it down and build a bigger and better one. I would love to go and help at Restoration MInisteries again.

My last trip to Resoration Ministries was both a sad and happy one because it is being torn down and being rebuilt into a bigger building. We got to stack the food and put them in plastic bags. We stacked food because we had to give it to the other places that take care of other kids so the kids could get something to eat there. MB
