5B to Harvey House for Week 2 Ministry

Today the 5th grade students from Mrs. Melvin's class visited the Harvey House. Just like yesterday this visit began with a surprise. A needy woman and her children were there to receive some assistance. The students were able to pray with this Christian woman and her daughters. They later filled boxes and bags with food and carried them to her car. The students once again showed an eagerness to serve and help the needy.

When I was at Harvey House Jackie talked about those who are not as blessed as we are. We bagged food to help those who don't have as much as we do.

My First Day at Restoration Ministries, my feelings were to help the needy. Jackie, the leader of Restoration Ministries, told us that we will be bagging bags for people. They get the food from the Chicago Food Depository, so they get a ton of meat, fruit, and beverages. FR

Ms. Jackie told us that Harvey House gets at least 370 pornds of food and puts it on a semitruck. When she serves the food, it goes to at least 200 people including children.

It was great to know that we would be able to help other people.

My feelings after I thought about yesterdays at Restoration Ministries was a happy one. One of the facts that Jackie stated was that on Monday nights about 69 people will be served which can feed up families up to 200. Another fact was that they buy lots of food that are $.7 each pound. MB

What we were going to do at Harvey House was stack the shelves with food at the food pantry, but then we met a lady named Anna. We packed bags of food for her and prayed that God would bless their family.

My second day at Restoration Ministries was amazing. This woman named Ann was in need. First Jackie told us to bag some cans which had rice and beans (mixed), pork and beans (mixed), canned fruit, tomatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, etc. We also packed some meat like Turkey,Beff, etc. After we came to school I told myself, "I would like to do that again and again," I hope I do as well. When I went to the Harvey House I prayed for this man who was embarressed because he didn't have any food. When I talked to himabout that he shouldn't be ashamed, then I prayed with him and he felt better about his life and he wasn't ashamed. I don't know what he did when he went home.

When I went to Harvey House I had so much fun. I prayed for this man who was ashamed of himself because he didn't have food for his family. So I walked over to him to talk to about him being ashamed, then I prayed with him and he felt more happier than ever. I don't know what he did when he went to go home, but you never know. He probaly changed and stopped being ashamed of himself.
